I was glad to see it at the used bookstore around the corner, since I had recently read Anna Karenina. By investigating the ethical, philosophical, and social issues with which Tolstoy grappled, Morson finds in Anna Karenina powerful connections with the concerns of today.

Its heyday was the midth century, and its practitioners gave expression to the compelling moral and social questions of their day - and arguably of the modern anna karenina in our time.

These men of genius included Dostoevsky, Gogol and Turgenev, but perhaps the greatest of them all was Tolstoy, author of the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina.

Very applicable for us today. The one area I think I disagreed with Morson was anna karenina in our time Christian love and conversion. I did not buy into his opinions about Karenina's conversion, and I think he completely misses the point of Levin's epiphany at the end of the book which I see to be true conversion, and I think Tolstoy would agree with me.
